Hasttvam is a slow fashion brand that is born out of love for handloom and handicrafts. We work with artisans directly and create collections that are poetry by hand.
From looms to printing tables to manufacturing and packaging.
Sustainability is a core value of Hasttvam.
We use natural fabrics such as cotton and semi-synthetic sustainable fabrics such as modal. We use natural dyes to print and dyes our fabrics. We have a zero-wastage policy, and hence do not waste any fabric at all. We use advanced pattern-making techniques to reduce fabric wastage and the rest is used to create various other small products and accessories.
We respect art and artisans.
Hasttvam is a brand born out of the collaboration of Designers with Artisans. Our team travels to meet the artisans involved in the craft. Research, understand, and learn the design process, then come up with designs along with the artisans, whether it is making new blocks for printing or experimenting with new dyeing techniques, or trying various print combinations.
Crafted from recycled and sustainably grown fibers.
We work with handloom fabrics that are hand-spun and hand-woven. And then the artisans print on these fabrics using wooden blocks and natural dyes often made by them in their workshops. These fabrics are then Sun-dried, sized, and dyed in natural organic dyes.
The entire process lasts over several months from weaving, printing, dyeing to finishing.
Rest assured Hasttvam garments are made of fabrics that are as close to nature as possible with little to no chemicals used at all.
